This generation now owns almost a third of all rental properties
Boomers now hold 27.5 percent of Australia’s rental properties, according to new tax office data. Over 1.3 million landlords are negatively geared, with combined losses hitting a record $16.1 billion in 2023-24. Young investors, under 30, own just 4.3 percent of rentals, despite a slight increase in properties held by this age group.
