A travel charge most Australians don't know they pay is rising again
Australia will raise its passenger movement charge to $80 from $70 in January 2027, adding a $10 exit fee for all departing travelers. The increase, announced in Tuesday's federal budget, is expected to generate $755 million over five years. Tourism industry groups warn the hike will discourage travel as airlines already face rising fuel costs.
